Community Needs Assessment

A community needs assessment is an ongoing analysis of social care needs of a population and making recommendations for changes to meet these needs. It is a systematic process for determining and addressing needs, or "gaps" between current conditions and desired conditions or "wants".

A community needs assessment involves:

  • Gathering information about social issues and trends in the community,
  • Gathering information about resources available in the community,
  • Determining what issues are most important for the community,
  • Building commitment and support from the community to improve the social health of the community.

As we endeavor to help our partners achieve better project outcomes, we see the value and the importance of high-quality engagement.
